Ireland's Bumblee's
Barbut's Cuckoo Bumblebee
A parasitic species that is observed across the Island
but in low numbers.
On the Island of Ireland we have 21 bumblebee species, all distinct and all under threat from a decline in habitat and feed sources. Each bumble is unique in its behaviour and feeding habits and this can be seen in their different sizes, shapes and facial structures.
A bumblebee isn't 'just' a bumblebee. They are individuals that play an important role in nature.
Handembroidered bee and sunburst daisy on cotton/linen blend. Mounted onto a frame measuring 16.5cm by 16.5cm.
