Ireland's Bumblee's

Cryptic White-tailed Bumblebee

First observed in Ireland in 2006. A difficult species to identify in comparison to the white tailed bumble.

On the Island of Ireland we have 21 bumblebee species, all distinct and all under threat from a decline in habitat and feed sources. Each bumble is unique in its behaviour and feeding habits and this can be seen in their different sizes, shapes and facial structures.
A bumblebee isn't 'just' a bumblebee. They are individuals that play an important role in nature.

Handembroidered bee and scabious flower on cotton/linen blend. Mounted onto a frame measuring 16.5cm by 16.5cm.
