Ireland's Bumblee's
Heath Bumblebee
A small hairy bumble that likes heathland. They are also a common site in gardens and nest in small colonies.
On the Island of Ireland we have 21 bumblebee species, all distinct and all under threat from a decline in habitat and feed sources. Each bumble is unique in its behaviour and feeding habits and this can be seen in their different sizes, shapes and facial structures.
A bumblebee isn't 'just' a bumblebee. They are individuals that play an important role in nature.
Handembroidered bee and heather on cotton/linen blend. Mounted onto a frame measuring 16.5cm by 16.5cm.
