Ireland's Bumblee's

Tree Bumblebee

The tree bumble was first recorded here in 2014 in Antrim. It lives in groups and nests in tree hollows. They are rapidly growing and being recorded in new locations!

On the Island of Ireland we have 21 bumblebee species, all distinct and all under threat from a decline in habitat and feed sources. Each bumble is unique in its behaviour and feeding habits and this can be seen in their different sizes, shapes and facial structures.
A bumblebee isn't 'just' a bumblebee. They are individuals that play an important role in nature.
