The Puffect Couple

A hand embroidered piece stitched onto water colour painted fabric. Capturing the love and connection of two Atlantic puffins I had the pleasure of meeting in Wales in 2019.
Magic in the woods

A water colour painted background with a thread sketched embroidered red squirrel, featuring metallic auburn threaded highlights.
A moment during golden hour in the woods with this red squirrel meant he deserved to be celebrated.
A badger in the forest

A hand embroidered badger framed in a 3D embroidered frame, including stump work Ivy, cotton moss and various textiles upon a water colour painted background.
This badger represents my first ever badger encounter late into the evening as he shuffled through the undergrowth, amongst the withering bluebells and growing ferns he stopped to view his surroundings.
A squirrel amongst the moss

An 8inch hand embroidered hoop of a red squirrel sat snuggly on a bed of moss crafted from french knots. The red squirrel is a conservation focus in Northern Ireland and one I spend many a day with. This squirrel was captured one autumn morning and graced me the sight of his beautiful red fur contrasting against the green of the forest floor.
A window into the world of a wood mouse- SOLD.

As part of a collection of miniatures. My tiny hand embroidered woodmouse sits in a 5inch hoop, encased in an embellished frame consisting of stumpwork leaves, grassess, cotton moss, and painted fabric.
This woodmouse graced my presence one Spring evening, after putting out feed for the squirrels in the forest she came to collect the crumbs at my feet. Working her way silently through the undergrowth.
Badger cubs in the gorse- SOLD.

A 5inch hand embroidered hoop of a badger cub I met amongst the gorse early in 2024. A chunkier style of stitching, to capture the pure innocence and cuteness that comes from a young badger popping out of the sett for the very first time.
Available for purchase.
A fawn amongst the nettles.

A 5inch hand embroidered hoop of a fallow deer fawn nestled in a bed of nettles created using stumpwork techniques providing the hoop with dimension. The forest floor is created from layers of fluffy thread and fabric frames the piece as grass.
An otter in the seaweed.

A European otter hand embroidered onto a bed of seaweed made from scraps of fabric and thread. Inspired by encounters on Strangford Lough. The background of the fabric painted in water colours to represent the tones of the sea lough.
Cyril the squirrel.

Cyril the squirrel was created from my love of red squirrels and excellent tweed suits. I wanted to play with the idea of one of my favourite creatures as a dapper gentleman. Stitched onto cotton and thread painted where a weaving technique created the patterned blazer.
The 2024 fungi collection

A collection of miniature thread paintings inspired by musings around the Knepp estate. Stitched onto mustard cotton in 3 inch hoops. Only 2 available (amethyst deceiver and coral fungus).
